Men's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Match to Juniata

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team dropped its second Landmark Conference match of the season, falling to Juniata College in a hard-fought 7-2 match at Hoffman Courts Sunday.

The Greyhounds fell behind early in the doubles action as the Eagles captured the first two matches at third doubles and second doubles. Moravian senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi tried to rally in their match at second doubles before falling 8-5. Juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie cut the deficit to one before doubles finished as they won their first doubles match in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-1).

Juniata captured the first four singles matches to finish earning the team victory. Tuorto did force a tiebreaker in his first set at first singles while Wylie also played a tiebreaker in his first set at second singles. Cooper earned a three-set win at third singles for the Greyhounds, rallying to a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) victory after dropping the first set. The triumph was the 39th of Cooper's career, moving him one win away from becoming the seventh player in school history to reach 40 career victories.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 18 when the squad plays its third of four consecutive matches at Hoffman Courts as Susquehanna University comes to Bethlehem for a 1:00 p.m. Landmark Conference match.
