Tuorto & Wylie Named to Landmark Men's Tennis All-Conference 1st Team

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie have been named to the 2015 Landmark Men's Tennis All-Conference First Team with Tuorto making the squad in singles and the duo earn a spot as a doubles tandem.

The pair has helped Moravian to an 11-7 record so far this season, and the squad had a 6-2 Landmark regular season record to earn the third seed in the conference tournament. This weekend, the Blue & Grey will be competing as the top seed in the inaugural ECAC Division III Outdoor Championship being played at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Tuorto has been the Greyhounds' number one singles player the last three seasons. He has a 12-9 overall singles record this year including an 11-6 slate in dual matches. In his career, Tuorto has won 31 singles contests, which is tied for 11th in the school's record books.

"Matt works extremely hard each day in practice and is a true leader on our team," commented fourth-year Head Coach Art Smith. "He also competes just as hard in match play. This Landmark Conference First Team singles selection is the culmination of a terrific season by our junior co-captain."

Tourto and Wylie have combined for a 15-8 mark in doubles this season including a 13-5 slate in dual matches, and the pair has tied Moravian's single season record with 15 victories in 2014-15. Tuorto and Wylie have a 36-29 career doubles mark, and the duo made the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in doubles in each of the past two seasons.

"John and Matt are an excellent doubles team," stated Smith. "Their games compliment each other on the tennis court. They are both very tough mentally and stay positive regardless of the score. Our number one doubles team of John and Matt had an outstanding year against some very tough competition."

The Greyhounds will play fourth seed Elmira (N.Y.) College in an ECAC Semifinal match on Saturday, May 9 starting at 1:00 p.m.
