Men's Tennis Tops Catholic 7-2 in Landmark Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action with a 7-2 at The Catholic University of America Saturday.

The Greyhounds swept the three doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Dan Schmucker and freshman David Wilson finished first at third doubles with an 8-3 victory while juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie  came off the court next with an 8-5 win at first doubles. Senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi finished the sweep with an 8-4 triumph at second doubles.

Wylie started singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at second singles for a 4-0 lead for Moravian, and Cooper sealed the team victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles for a 5-0 advantage. The Cardinals won the next two singles contests to be completed before Lombardi posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at fifth singles. Junior C.J. Widdifield completed the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at sixth singles for the Hounds.

The Blue & Grey, who are 6-4 overall and 2-0 in Landmark action, get right back on the courts on Sunday, March 29 in a Landmark Conference match at Elizabethtown College starting at 1:00 p.m.
