Men's Tennis Falls to Goucher in Battle of Landmark Unbeatens

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College men's tennis squad suffered its first Landmark Conference match of the season, falling to Goucher College, 7-2, in a hard-fought match Saturday afternoon between two previously unbeaten squads in conference action.

The Gophers had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action with the Greyhounds picking up an 8-6 win at first doubles from juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie.

Goucher scored wins in the first two completed singles matches at fourth and second singles before Tuorto posted a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory at first singles. Moravian nearly cut the deficit to 4-3 at that point with senior Lewis Cooper winning the first set in his third singles contest before falling in three sets. The Gophers won the final two singles matches.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, April 11 in a Landmark Conference match versus The University of Scranton at Hoffman Courts beginning at 1:00 p.m.
