Men's Tennis Falls in Hard-Fought, 5-4 Decision vs. Ursinus

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team jumped out to an early lead before falling to Ursinus College, 5-4, in a hard-fought and tightly contested non-conference match at Hoffman Courts Tuesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had a 3-0 lead after the doubles action. Juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie put the Blue & Grey on the board first with an 8-4 win at first doubles. Sophomore Dan Schmucker and freshman David Wilson made it 2-0 with an 8-5 victory at third doubles while senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi completed the sweep with an 8-5 triumph at second doubles.

The Bears captured the first four singles matches to take a 4-3 lead with Schmucker forcing an extra-point in his second set. Cooper tied the contest back up at 4-4, winning 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at third singles. Tuorto was the last Greyhound on the court and forced an extra point in the second set of his first singles contest but was unable to force a decisive third set.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, March 28 in a Landmark Conference match at The Catholic University of America beginning at 1:00 p.m.
