Tuorto Selected as Landmark Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Matt Tuorto has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Tuorto finished the Greyhounds' Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida with a 2-1 record in singles action and a 1-2 slate in doubles. Tuorto had straight sets wins at first singles versus Monmouth (Ill.) College and Cornell (Iowa) College, and he combined with junior John Wylie for a first doubles win in the match with Cornell.

"Matt had two quality singles wins against Monmouth and Cornell," commented Head Coach Art Smith. "He also played extremely well against the number one player from Berry in a losing cause. He and John Wylie played very hard in doubles against all three opponents and pulled out a come-from-behind win in doubles that was key to our winning effort against Cornell."

Moravian is scheduled to return to the courts when the squad opens its 2015 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, March 21 as the Greyhounds welcome The United States Merchant Marine Academy to Hoffman Courts for a 1:00 p.m. match.
