Hounds Remains Undefeated in Landmark with 7-2 Win at ETown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis squad remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action with its third conference victory of the season after a 6-3 triumph at Elizabethtown College Sunday.

The Hounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles action. Senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi were the first off the courts with an 8-1 win at second doubles while juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie posted an 8-1 victory at first doubles. Sophomore Dan Schmucker and freshman David Wilson finished off the sweep with an 8-4 triumph at third doubles.

Cooper pushed the lead to 4-0 for the Greyhounds with a straight sets victory at third singles while Tuorto clinched the team's seventh win of the season with a straight set triumph at first singles. Wylie rallied after losing his first set to post a three-set victory at second singles as Moravian pushed its lead to 6-0. Schmucker, Lombardi and junior C.J. Widdifield all won their first sets when then hit the courts for singles but all three dropped their third set super-tiebreaker as the Blue Jays captured the last three matches.

Moravian is not scheduled to return to action until Saturday, April 4 when the Greyhounds head to Goucher College looking for their fourth conference win of the season. The match in Towson, Maryland is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
