Greyhounds Top Scranton, 6-3, in Landmark Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team improved to 4-1 in Landmark Conference action this season with a 6-3 victory over The University of Scranton at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action as sophomore Dan Schmucker and freshman David Wilson opened the contest with an 8-2 victory at third doubles. Juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie made the lead 2-0 with an 8-3 triumph at first doubles. Senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi put up a fight at second doubles before falling by an 8-6 score.

Cooper would put the Hounds up 3-1 in the first singles match to finish with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles. Wylie was the next to finish and extended the lead to 4-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at second singles. Tuorto then clinched the match with a three-set, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 triumph at first singles. Schmucker won this fourth singles match in three sets as the Blue & Grey bounced back from their first conference loss of the season last Saturday.

Moravian will hit the courts again Sunday morning as the Greyhounds host Juniata College in a Landmark Conference contest slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Hoffman Courts.
