Zion Howard '21 Selected as Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman sprinter Zion Howard has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Howard helped Moravian to a first-place finish at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College as the Greyhounds scored 82 points to lead the 24-team field. Howard picked up 18 points with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.96 seconds and a second-place showing in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09 seconds. Howard also ran the second leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team that placed fourth in 3:34.10 to help earn another five team points.

"Zion had an awesome meet," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "We don't often have people PR from the first December meet going into the first January meet since they're away for four weeks but obviously, he trained over the holiday break. Both his 60m and 200m times were improvements and he even let up a little the last 10 meters of the 200 or that could have been an even faster time. He capped off his day with a 52-low split in the 4x400 as well. We've had a good history of talented sprinters at Moravian and he's showing he could help carry on the tradition here."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, January 27 at the Lehigh University Covert Classic beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Rauch Fieldhouse.
