Men Record 13 Top 10 Finishes in Coach P Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad hosted the Annual Coach P Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field with a total of 27 schools competing.

This is the ninth straight year that the Greyhounds have hosted the meet in honor of former coach Doug Pollard, who passed away in 2007. The meet also includes many alumni returning to compete in their former events.

The Greyhounds had 13 top 10 finishes as well as one relay squad in the top 10. Freshman Zion Howard was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 21.54 seconds, and he took third in the 100-meter dash in 10.93 seconds after the fastest preliminary time of 10.67 seconds, which is tied for fifth in the nation on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list.

Junior John Spirk was third in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.82 seconds while sophomore Greg Jaindl placed third in the 1,500-meter run in 4:01.31 and junior Devon Harris  took fourth in the race in 4:01.57. Senior Andrew Mitchell was sixth in the 800-meter run in 1:55.19 while freshman Billy Milburn took tenth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:03.02. Spirk and Howard combined with sophomore Evan Lutz and freshman Sean McFarland to finish fourth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:22.63.

On Friday evening, sophomore Gavin Kemery finished sixth in the 10,000-meer run in a time of 34:26.21 while senior Benjamin Smith was tenth in 35:37.17.

In the field events, senior Robert Condo was the runner-up in the javelin with a toss of 60.50 meters (198-6) that moves him to tenth in the nation on the TFRRS list while junior Jon Anthony was tenth in the discus with a distance of 41.86 meters (137-4). Junior Scott Goodwin was tied for fifth in the pole vault at a height of 4.26 meters (13-11.75) while sophomore Roland Cash finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.76 meters (45-1.75).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21 when the squad hosts the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. Friday's action will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Saturday's competition starting at 10:00 a.m.
