LA CROSSE, Wisc. --- Moravian College freshman Zion Howard ran to a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash finals at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to earn All-America honors Saturday.

Howard, who had the second-fastest qualifying time of 21.79 while winning his preliminary heat on Thursday, ran in lane six for the final Saturday and posted the fastest time of his career at 21.42 seconds, just four hundredths of a second from being in third place. Howard had entered the meet with the 20th and final qualifying time.

"All year long Zion has stepped up to his competition, it didn't matter the meet or stage he was on, he was never intimidated by the moment and clearly that was the case this weekend," noted Head Coach Jesse Baumann. Assistant Coaches Steve Rahn and Sarah Werner did a great job preparing him for this moment and knowing when he needed rest like this past week or needed a push. He was ready to perform when the moment was there, so I give credit to all three. You can't ask for a better way to end an amazing freshman campaign and this is only the beginning for him."

Moravian men finished tied for 53rd of 90 teams with the five points from Howard's fourth place while the Greyhounds' women's squad was tied for 43rd of 80 schools scoring a point at the national championships after Mary Kate Duncan's third place All-American finish in the javelin on Thursday earned the women six points.
