CHESTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad competed at the Mideast Invitational hosted by Widener University Thursday in the final meet for most of the Greyhound student-athletes for the season and some their careers. The Greyhounds finished first of 20 teams with 118 points.

Freshman Zion Howard won the 200-meter dash in 21.79 seconds, and he was third in the 100-meter dash in 10.97 seconds. Junior John Spirk won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.83 seconds, and he placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.40. Sophomore Greg Jaindl took first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:34.90 while freshman Sean McFarland was third in the 400-meter dash.

Senior Andrew Mitchell was third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.95 while sophomore Justin Beasley-Turner was fourth in 1:53.12 and senior Mike Kopach placed seventh in 1:57.80. Junior Devon Harris finished third in the 1,500-meter run in 4:01.45.

The Greyhounds took three of the top four spots in the pole vault with junior Scott Goodwin in first at 4.40 meters (14-5.25), senior Preston Weidner in second clearing 3.65 meters (11-11.75) and freshman John Stires in fourth place at 3.35 meters (10-11.75). Senior Robert Condo placed fourth in the javelin with a toss of 57.70 meters (189-4) while sophomore Ryan Harper finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.61 meters (146-4).

The Greyhounds have a small group of competitors for the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship meet in Wisconsin beginning on May 24, and that group will be confirmed on Saturday, May 19. The top 20 males and top 22 females on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list will compete in the NCAA meet.
