Cooper Named Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore sprinter Lily Cooper has been named the first Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the week for the 2017-18 Indoor season for her performance last week.

Cooper had a pair of Top-20 finishes at the 11-team, non-scored Lehigh University Opener last Friday. She placed 14th overall and third in her heat of the 200-meter dash in 27.94 seconds, and Cooper was also 17th in the 60-meter dash in 8.24 seconds, which is a career-best time in the race.

"Lily already set her indoor PR in the 60 in her first race on Friday," noted Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "We've only been training since the middle of October so it's a great sign she's already opening up quicker than last year and we have so much of our season in front of us. We've shifted her focus from the long sprints to the short sprints which has helped that she has a singular path and focus this year and the results are starting to reflect that."

Moravian is not scheduled to compete again until Saturday, January 20 when the squad heads to the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.
