Greyhounds Put Forth Great Showing at NYU DIII Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- The Moravian College women's indoor track & field squad placed fourth of 27 teams in the New York University Invitational at the NYC Armory on Friday.

In the women's field events, junior Jordan Luciano took fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 4.98 meters (16-4.25). In the pole vault, senior Beth Ann Davies was second at a height of 3.04 meters while freshmen Layne Morgan was seventh in the shot put with a distance of 11.03 meters (36-2.25). In the women's triple jump, freshmen Martha Thorpe took fifth place with a leap of 10.45 meters (34-3.5) while senior Carly Thorpe came in ninth place with a distance of 10.18 meters (33-4.75). Senior Casie Cronk finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters (5-3) while senior Melissa Cheong finished seventh with a height of 1.50 meters (4-11) and finishing up in the field events in the weight throw, senior Maggie Heft threw a distance of 12.92 meters (42-04.75).

Meanwhile on the track for the Moravian women, sophomore Lily Cooper came in seventh place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.36 seconds and in the 60-meter hurdles, junior Amari Schooler took eighth with a time of 9.66 seconds. Sophomore Carly Danoski grabbed first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.18. In the women's 3000-meter run, sophomore Katie Mayer finished tenth with a time of 11:05.55. To wrap the meet up on the track, the Moravian women's Relay "A" team consisted of junior Anna Osman, junior Danielle Tomko, sophomore Meghan Lazarchak and Danoski and finished in seventh with a time of 4:16.26.

The Greyhounds are not slated to return to action until Friday, February 16 when the Hounds travel to Kutztown University for the 6-Way Team Qualifer.
