Greyhounds Post Third Straight Shutout Victory

The Moravian College field hockey team posted a 2-0 shutout of Landmark Conference rival Goucher College Saturday afternoon. Sophomore goalie Andrea Eck posted her fourth shutout of the season, and tallied one save. This is the Greyhounds three straight shutout victory.

The Gophers would hold the Greyhounds at bay in the first half, even though Moravian outshot them 11-0. The Greyhounds and Gophers would take a 0-0 tie into the half.

Moravian would continue to put the pressure on in the second half until finally putting the first goal on the board from a penalty stroke by sophomore midfielder Chelsea Grotyohann her sixth of the season. Moravian would net its second goal less than two minutes later off a corner, which freshman forward Taylor Holly deposited into the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper, Micki Manheimer, for Goucher tallied 13 saves in the contest.

Moravian would outshot Goucher 27-1 and had an 18-0 penalty corner advantage.

The Greyhounds return to action Tuesday, October 25th when they host rival Muhlenberg College in the Matte Award Match. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Betty Prince Field as Moravian looks to tie the school record for victories in a season at ten.
