GLEN ALLEN, VA --- Eight members of the Moravian College field hockey team have been named to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad announced by the NFHCA.

Moravian was also one of 106 NCAA Division III schools to earn the honor of being named an NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award winner for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Greyhounds were joined on the list by Landmark Conference rivals The Catholic University of America, Drew University, Goucher College, Juniata College and Susquehanna University.

Seniors Selena Agnor and Erica Cernobyl, junior Catherine Gottlieb, sophomore Andrea Eck and freshmen Catherine Duffin, Taylor Holly, Emily Marley and Erin Murray represented the Greyhounds on the squad which included over 1,200 NCAA Division III players from 136 teams. To be named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year.

The group helped the Greyhounds post a 9-8 record this past fall, tied for the second most victories in a single season.  Duffin earned Landmark All-Conference Second Team honors as was second on the squad in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 points while Holly had three goals and three assists for nine points.  Eck started all 17 matches in goal last fall and had a 9-8 record, a 1.57 goals-against average, four shutouts and 89 saves while Gottlieb combined on two more shutouts and made five saves during the season.

Cernobyl contributed three assists in her final season while Agnor had one goal and a defensive save.  Marley added one defensive save while starting all 17 matches, and Murray saw action in four contests.
