Moravian Downs FDU-Florham

The Moravian College field hockey team defeated FDU-Florham, 3-1, Tuesday afternoon at Betty Prince Field to improve to 3-1 on the season, marking their best start since 2004. Junior forward Tori Poliskiewicz was around the action all day as she tallied two assists.

The Greyhounds started the scoring early as freshman midfielder Catherine Duffin netted their first goal off of a penalty corner, assisting on the play was Poliskiewicz ona give-and-go during a penalty corner. Moravian would add one more goal before the end of the half by freshman forward Erica Washington on a pass from freshman forward Taylor Holly on a breakaway.

Junior forward Briana Van Buskirk would net her first goal of the season with just seven minutes left in the game, to give the Greyhounds a commanding 3-0 lead on a set-up by Poliskiewicz. For the Devils it would be too little too late as they would add a goal with eight seconds left on the clock by sophomore forward Bryanna Danyluk, to make the score 3-1, and that would be the final score.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Eck made four saves on the day, while allowing just one goal to improve her record to 3-1. Devils' sophomore goalie Tess Loughran made 11 saves including stopping a pair of Greyhound penalty strokes in the second half.

Moravian out-shot FDU-Florham 17-10 on the day, but the Devils had a 10-6 penalty corner advantage over the Greyhounds. Moravian will return to action on Thursday, September 15th versus Arcadia University in a non-conference match starting at 4:00 p.m. as the Greyhounds looks for their best start since the the 1994 squad started 4-1.
