Martha Thorpe honored as Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore jumper Martha Thorpe has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Thorpe had a strong season debut at the non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday. She was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters (16-6), and Thorpe also finished fourth in the triple jump at a distance of 10.09 meters (33-1.25).

"Marty has improved a lot with her consistency on the runway and steering towards the takeoff thanks to Coach Bill and we started to see some of those gains on Saturday," noted Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "It was a great debut for her in the long jump. The triple jump was a strange competition with a small field and a number of fouls but she still put together a solid jump in the prelims to have a solid overall day for her first meet of the season."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday, December 8 to compete in the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals starting at 10:00 a.m.
