TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's track & field squad garnered its 12th consecutive Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship by winning the 2019 meet hosted by Goucher College on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5.
The Greyhounds claimed title with a 31-point victory over runner-up Elizabethtown College. The Hounds scored 197 points to the Blue Jays' 168, and Moravian had four individual champions and two relay teams finish first.
"We asked a lot of a number of athletes this weekend like Anna Osman, Jen Eberly, Morgan Weaver, all of our distance runners, and I could go on," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "In some instances, it meant they sacrificed some personal goals for the sake of the team, but in the end, it was needed and paid off. Etown has great depth and we needed all the points we could muster up. We had numerous PRs despite the weather, and as with the men, they proved they're gamers with some stand out performances. It was a great weekend and we hope to continue the success into Regionals and NCAAs."
Leading Moravian was junior Carly Danoski, who won the 1,500-meter run on Saturday with a time of 4:46.70, and the 800-meter run on Sunday in 2:17.19. Sophomore Jenevieve Eberly captured the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.87 seconds while freshman Ally Lambert won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.92.
Danoski and Lambert were also part of Moravian's winning 4x400-meter relay team to finish the meet as they teamed up with senior Anna Osman and sophomore Camaryn Wheeler to post a winning time of 4:05.85. Osman and Wheeler were also part of the champion 4x100-meter relay squad with sophomore Morgan Weaver and senior Jordan Luciano.
Luciano was the runner-up in both the 100-meter dash in 12.96 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 26.84 seconds. Wheeler took sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.24 seconds while Weaver was eighth in 13.58 seconds. Wheeler was also fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.01 seconds while Weaver was fifth in 27.15 seconds and Osman placed eighth in 28.48 seconds. Weaver was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.72 while Osman took third in the race in 1:00.75 and sophomore Emily Renner was sixth in 1:03.00.
Osman also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16:07 seconds while Lambert was fourth in 16.73 seconds and sophomore Cat Cole was seventh in 16.98 seconds. Osman placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.27 while Eberly took fourth in 1:11.08 and junior Shayne McNally was sixth in 1:13.73.
Freshman Natalie Stabilito finished as the runner-up to Danoski in the 800-meter run in 2:19.02, and she was third in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:50.24 while sophomore Natalie Novotni was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run in 17:58.15. Novotni also placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:07.83 while freshman Emma Marion was sixth in 40:27.20. Junior Ashley Rohrer placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:56.68 while freshman Santina Burak finished eighth in 12:11.19.
Luciano also finished as the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 5.38 meters (17-8) while Eberly was fourth in the long jump at 5.24 meters (17.2.25) and third in the triple jump with a distance of 10.39 meters (34-1.25). Sophomore Tyleen Lopez finished fifth in the pole vault at 2.44 meters (8-0) in her first collegiate competition in the event. Junior Hailee Yoder took sixth in the javelin with a toss of 31.87 meters (104-6) while junior Vanessa Blose was seventh in discus with a distance of 31.66 meters (103-10) and eighth in the shot put at 9.87 meters (32-4.75) to round out the Greyhounds that garnered points in the meet.
The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Monday, May 13 at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Qualifier as the Hounds look to send student-athletes to the All-Atlantic Region meet on May 15-16 and the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships on May 23-25.
