Volleyball Starts 2014 with 12th Annual Greyhound Premiere

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball squad will host its 12th Annual Greyhound Premiere on Friday and Saturday, August 29-30 to open the 2014 season that will feature 33 matches before the postseason.

The Greyhounds, under the direction of 22nd-year Head Coach Shelley Bauder, will welcome eight other schools to the nine-team Greyhound Premiere in Johnston Hall and Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse. Moravian will play Alvernia University on Friday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m. to start the schedule, and the Greyhounds will also play The College of New Rochelle the same evening at 8:00 p.m.

After four matches in the Greyhound Premiere, Moravian has just seven other home contests scheduled during the season. The Greyhounds will host Carin University on September 19 at 7:00 p.m., Bryn Mawr College and Cabrini College on September 20 at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., rival Muhlenberg College in a Matte Award match on October 1 at 7:00 p.m., The University of Scranton and The United States Merchant Marine Academy in a pair of Landmark Conference matches on October 4 at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. and Cedar Crest College on October 21 at 7:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds have two other tournaments on the schedule in September with four matches at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College on September 5-6 and the Knights Invitational at Neumann University on September 12-13.

With the addition of Elizabethtown College to the Landmark Conference in 2014-15, the Landmark Round Robin weekends that the conference had used the last seven years have given way to weekday matches and Saturday tri-matches. Moravian will open the conference season at Elizabethtown on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Juniata College on Saturday, September 27 to play Susquehanna University at 1:30 p.m. and the host Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The Hounds will play their final two conference matches versus The Catholic University of America and Goucher College on Saturday, October 18 at Elizabethtown College at 1:30 and 4:00 p.m.

Moravian also has weekday non-conference matches at Widener University on September 2, at DeSales University on September 10, at Penn State-Brandywine on September 17 and at Haverford College on October 9 with all four matches starting at 7:00 p.m. The Greyhounds will head to Montclair State University for a tri-match with Brooklyn College on October 11, and the Hounds finish out the regular season in a tri-match at Messiah College with Arcadia University on November 1.

The 2014 Landmark Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 4 with the first round of the six-team tournament with the top two seeds receiving a bye in the opening round. The semifinal contests will be played at the top seed on Friday, November 7 and the championship match is scheduled for Saturday, November 8.
