Volleyball Splits in Non-Conference Matches

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College volleyball team traveled to Montclair State University for a non-conference tri-match Saturday. The Greyhounds claimed their first win of the day sweeping Brooklyn College with scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-14. They would fall to Montclair State in their second game on the day in three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-13.

The Hounds were led by freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher with a team-high of eight kills, versus Brooklyn, she added two service aces, seven digs and a block. Senior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo pitched in with seven kill, a team-high of four service aces and six digs in the game. Junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak helped out with five kills and three service aces.

The Blue and Grey were paced by junior setter Megan Szkolnicki with 27 assists, three service aces and seven digs while freshman libero Jean Markovic added a team-high of 16 digs in the victory over Brooklyn.

The Greyhounds squared up against the Red Hawks for their second game of the day where they would battle point for point. Sophomore Taylor Kornmann would lead the team with 13 kills while adding a block.

Juniors Lauren Hostetler and Bobyak both landed five kills in the match while Zacher added four kills and nine digs.The Hounds were paced again by Szkolnicki, who had 28 assists, four kills, one service ace and two digs, and defensively Markovic had another team-high of 15 digs on the afternoon.

The Greyhounds head to Penn State-Berks on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. for another non-conference match.
