Volleyball Splits on Second Day of Buttermaker Tournament

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches for the second straight day at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College, sweeping FDU-Florham, 25-9, 25-18, 25-22 in the opening match Saturday morning before falling to DeSales University, 25-21, 20-25, 27-25, 25-20.

Junior outside hitter Lauren Hostetler, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, had a team-high six kills to go with seven digs in the win over FDU-Florham. Junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak, sophomores middle blocker Taylor Kornmann and opposite hitter Jaclyn Smith and freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher all had five kills. Kornmann and Smith each added four blocks while Zacher had four digs and Bobyak contributed three digs.

Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki ran the Hounds' offense with 28 assists to go with five digs and four kills while freshman libero Jean Markovic added a match-high 21 digs and three service aces. Senior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo contributed three kills.

Moravian had three players in double-digit kills in the match versus the Bulldogs with Kornmann leading the way with 12 kills to go with two blocks. Bobyak added 11 kills and a pair of blocks while Hostetler made 11 kills along with 24 digs and four assists. Zacher contributed nine kills, 15 digs and two service aces while Smith had four kills.

Szkolnicki posted 45 assists, five kills, three digs and a pair of blocks for the Greyhounds while Markovic added a match-high 25 digs. Comitalo also made three kills in the match.

Moravian and DeSales will face each other again in a non-conference match on Wednesday, September 10 in Center Valley starting at 7:00 p.m.
