Volleyball Set for Landmark Semifinals on Tuesday at Juniata

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College volleyball team travels to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania for the opening round of the Landmark Conference tournament on Tuesday, November 4 as the No. 4 seed to face off against defending conference champion, top seed and ranked Juniata College at 7:00 p.m. in hopes of an upset.

"We've been in the underdog position before and know what it's like to battle through a match which is what we plan on doing tomorrow," commented Head Volleyball Coach Shelley Bauder. "I think if we have better ball control than last time, we will be more competitive which really puts the pressure on them to not make a mistake."

The Greyhounds have never missed the Landmark tournament in the conference's eight-year history under Bauder, who is in her 22nd-year. The Hounds finished the regular season 15-18 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Kornmann leads the Blue and Grey on the attack with a team-high 334 kills, which puts her fourth in the conference in both kills and kills per set at 2.90, and she has contributed 77 blocks with 26 of them being solo blocks. Kornmann has also moved into 10th in school history with 164 career blocks.

Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki paces the Hounds with 1,005 assists, which is fourth in the Landmark as well as assists per set at 8.52. Szkolinicki, who became the seventh Greyhound to reach 1,000 career assists last Saturday, also has a team-high of 58 service aces, placing her fifth in the conference, and she has added 169 digs and 100 kills.

Freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher has added 273 kills, 40 service aces and 319 digs in her debut season. Junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak has 220 kills, 49 blocks, 11 solo and 49 service aces while junior outside hitter Lauren Hostetler adds 172 kills and 296 digs. Bobyak is just behind Kornmann with 160 career blocks.

Freshman libero Jean Markovic has an impressive team-high of 512 digs, which is fifth in Moravian record books for digs in a season, fourth in the conference for digs and third for digs per set at 4.53 while adding 33 service aces.

Senior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo has put up 27 service aces, 85 kills and 96 digs this season while junior defensive specialist Andrea Giardina recorded 189 digs, and 17 service aces this fall.

This will be the fifth time Moravian battles Juniata in the Landmark Conference tournament.
