ASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team played a pair of matches at the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann University Friday, falling to Marymount (Va.) University and Haverford College in non-conference contests.

The Hounds lost to an undefeated Marymount squad in the opening round, 28-26, 26-24, 16-25, 25-17. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Kornmann and freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher each had 12 kills in the match to lead the Greyhounds with Kornmann adding five blocks and Zacher contributing 11 digs and a pair of blocks in the match.

Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki led Moravian with 37 assists to go along with seven digs, two kills, two blocks and a pair of service aces while freshman libero Jean Markovic led the Hounds with 24 digs. Senior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo posted seven kills and five digs while junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak had a team-high three service aces to go with three kills, three blocks and three digs. Sophomore opposite hitter Jaclyn Smith added three kills and four digs in the contest while junior defensive specialist Andrea Giardina had eight digs.

Moravian dropped a 26-24, 25-16, 25-14 contest to Haverford in the final action of the night. Kornmann once again led the Greyhounds with 10 kills while Zacher, Bobyak and junior outside hitter Lauren Hostetler all had five kills in the match. Zacher also contributed 11 digs and a pair of service aces while Hostetler added seven digs.

Szkolnicki turned in a team-leading 29 assists with eight digs and two kills while Markovic contributed 14 digs. Smith had four kills in the match while Giardina added five digs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action in the second round of the Knights Invitational on Saturday, September 13 when the squad battles Widener University at 11:00 a.m. before finishing the tournament in a match versus rival Muhlenberg College at 1:00 p.m.
