Hounds Sweep Carin in Non-Conference Action

Bethlehem, Pa.--- Moravian College volleyball team returned home to Johnston Hall on Friday night after being on the road for nearly three weeks. The Hounds wouldn't disappoint winning their seventh match of the season against non-conference opponent Carin University 25-7, 25-22 and 25-16.

"I'm happy we got the win. I'm happy it was a good team effort and everyone got to play. I think we had some good connections, especially in the middle," stated Head Coach Shelley Bauder.

The Greyhounds would make a take the first set 25-7, with freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher serving up a 12 point run, earning two services aces, while junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak lead the set with six kills.

The second set found the Blue and Grey battling point for point with the Highlanders, but winning the set 25-22. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Kornmann had seven kills in the set. Bobyak would pitch in adding another six kills and freshman libero Jean Markovic served up two service aces.

The Hounds took the final set 25-16. Kormann had a block while she and Bobyak would both finish with a total of 12 kills on the night. Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki earned five service aces and 28 assists on the 3-0 night earning the victory.

"I thought Vic was fast and was able to get to the net real quick before their block could set up to put the ball past, and I thought T.K. was able to both run away from the middle a little bit and get some good blocks in as well,"

The Greyhounds head back to Johnston Hall tomorrow, Saturday, September 20 for a tri-match starting at 11:00 a.m. against Bryn Mawr College and again at 3:00 p.m. against Cabrini College
