BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team starts its 2021-22 season on Friday, November 5 with a non-conference game at rival Muhlenberg College with the contest tipping off at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Allentown.

Interim Head Coach Mike Frew '02 has nine players on the roster from last year's pandemic shortened season that saw the Hounds play just nine games in February.

The lone senior on the squad, guard Danny Cooper missed the year with an injury in what would have been his first year in the Blue and Grey. Moravian has two juniors, guard Nate Dougherty, who has contributed 100 points, 62 rebounds, 19 assists and 15 steals in 31 career games, and forward Joe Paulillo, who had 25 points, 21 rebounds and four steals in the nine games last season during his debut with the Hounds.

The other six returners are all sophomores for Moravian. Guard Alex Dietz had 55 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists, 10 three-pointers and seven steals while guard/forward James Thompson contributed 43 points, 24 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and three blocked shots. Forward Mike DiPietro added 30 points, 18 boards and a trio of blocked shots while guard Tyler Mish had 28 points, 19 rebounds, nine steals and seven assists. Guard C.J. Weber recorded 20 points, 14 rebounds and five steals while guard Justin LaBrusciano played in four games and added two rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Greyhounds selected Cooper, Dougherty, Dietz and Weber as captains for the 2021-22 campaign.

Coach Frew has added eight newcomers with seven freshman and sophomore forward Thomas Abato, who transferred from Landmark Conference foe The Catholic University of America where he played in seven games in the shortened 2021 season with 13 points, 22 rebounds and three assists.

Moravian will make its 2021-22 home debut on Monday, November 8 when the squad hosts Penn State Abington at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
