BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team dropped a 94-63 contest to visiting DeSales University in non-conference action Tuesday evening in Johnston Hall.

How It Happened

  • The Bulldogs netted the game's first five points before sophomore guard Alex Deitz hit a jumper to get the Greyhounds on the scoreboard. DeSales scored the next seven points for a 12-2 edge, and the Bulldogs would stretch their advantage to 33-12 with just over five minutes to play in the first half. Moravian answered with a 16-5 run to end the half, pulling within ten points at 38-28 on a three-pointer by senior guard Danny Cooper just before the halftime buzzer
  • DeSales opened the second half with a three-pointer, and the Hounds trailed 44-33 after a three-pointer from Dietz. However, that would be as close as Moravian would get as the Bulldogs slowly pulled away

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three players in double figures with Dietz and junior guard Nate Dougherty each netting 14 points. Dougherty added three rebounds and three assists while Dietz had two boards and two assists. Sophomore forward Thomas Abato tossed in a career high 11 points to go with a pair of rebounds
  • Cooper contributed eight points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals while sophomore guard/forward James Thompson added six points
  • Sophomore guard C.J. Weber recorded five points, two rebounds and two assists while sophomore forward Mike DiPietro had four rebounds and three points and freshman forward Nate Santiago added two points and two rebounds
  • Freshman guard/forward Michael Leonardo pulled down three rebounds while freshman guard/forward Antonio Montgomery saw his first action of the season and had one board. Freshman guard Luciano Lunetta also made his collegiate debut in the game
  • The Greyhounds shot 50 percent (15-of-30) from the floor in the second half and 41.5 percent (27-of-65) for the contest
  • The biggest difference in the scoring came beyond the three-point line where Moravian was just 4-for-17 while the Bulldogs were 16-for-30
