Moravian Falls at Drew in Final Road Game of 2021-22 Season

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team fell to host Drew University, 117-69, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening as the Greyhounds played their final road contest of the 2021-22 season.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds netted the first five points of the game on a jumper from sophomore guard Alex Dietz and a three-pointer by junior guard Nate Dougherty. Freshman forward Nate Santiago added a lay-up as the Blue and Grey led 7-2 just over two minutes into action. However, Drew netted the next 12 points to build a 14-7 advantage, and the Rangers stretched the run out to 21-4 to lead 23-11 with just under 13 minutes until the intermission
  • Drew would eventually lead by as many as 29 points while a three-pointer from Dougherty sent the teams to the locker room with the Rangers holding a 56-30 edge
  • Drew began the second half with a 7-0 run and maintained the lead for the rest of the contest

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had a pair of players in double figures with senior guard Danny Cooper netting 18 points to go with four assists and three rebounds while Dougherty finished with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals
  • Dietz contributed eight points, five boards and a pair of assists while Santiago added five points and four rebounds. Freshman guard/forward Michael Leonardo and sophomore guard C.J. Weber both had five points with Weber grabbing four boards
  • Freshman guard Jovonnie Nunez scored his first four points of the season for Moravian while sophomore forward Thomas Abato had four points and two rebounds. Sophomore guard Justin LaBrusciano and freshman forward Jack Saggio both had two points with LaBrusciano adding a career high three rebounds and Saggio pulling down two boards
