Hounds Take First in Rain-Shortened Golden Oaks Shootout

FLEETWOOD, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's golf squad placed first of 12 teams in the rain-shortened Golden Oaks Shootout hosted by Arcadia University at the Golden Oaks Golf Club.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds were 12-over par with a 444 through 27 holes when the course was determined to be unplayable Saturday afternoon. Moravian was just three over with a 147 in the nine holes completed in the second round
  • The Hounds led Cabrini University by seven strokes when the tournament was called, and the host Knights were 12 strokes back in third place 

Moravian Results

  • Freshman Jake Haberstumpf earned his second straight medalist honor with the top spot in the tournament. He had a one-over par 37 for his ninth holes on Saturday with eight pars, and Haberstumpf carded a one-under par 107 for 27 holes to lead the 64 golfers in the tournament
  • Sophomore Jason Koch finished in a tie for fourth with a three-over par 27-hole total of 111 after playing an even par nine holes in the second round that included one birdie and seven pars
  • Sophomore TJ Bohl and senior Andrew Hozza were in a tie for ninth with five-over par tournament scores of 114. Both players were two-over par in the second round with Bohl carding a birdie and six pars and Hozza shooting eight pars in his nine holes
  • Senior Jack Wagner finished in a tie for 42nd with a tournament total of 127, and he had a 42 in his nine holes on Saturday with six pars

  • "I'm really proud of how well all the guys played this weekend in not the best conditions. Jake had another solid tournament getting his second win in two events. TJ, Jason and Andrew played really solid rounds both days and Jack was playing a good round today. Overall, it was a great team win."
