MACUNGIE, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's golf team captured its seventh straight John Makuvek Cup Thursday, defeated DeSales University and Muhlenberg College at Brookside Country Club.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds had a team score of 310 for the top four players while the Bulldogs fired a 335 and Muhlenberg recorded a 340
  • DeSales won the inaugural event in 2013, and the Mules won the cup in 2014. Since then, the Hounds have captured the title in every year

Moravian Results

  • Senior Andrew Hozza earned medalist honors with a career-low round of 70 to lead the 15 golfers. The course was shortened to a par 68 Thursday due to construction on the first two holes forcing them to become par 3 holes. Hozza carded an eagle, a birdie and 12 pars in his round that shaved five strokes off his previous best round
  • Freshman Jake Haberstumpf was tied for second with a 75 that included 11 pars
  • Freshman Robbie McNelly finished fifth with an 81 as he carded a birdie and six pars
  • Senior Jack Wagner and sophomore Jason Koch both finished in a tie for eighth with rounds of 84. Wagner recorded seven pars while Koch had a birdie and five pars on his card
