Moravian Shuts Out Scranton to Clinch Landmark Conference Tournament Berth

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad clinched a berth in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 2-0 victory at The University of Scranton Saturday to close out the regular season.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds broke onto the scoreboard in the 33rd minute as junior forward Ben Scary converted on a penalty kick
  • Scary found the net again in the 75th minute with an unassisted goal
  • Moravian clinched the fifth seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament with the win, the program's first postseason appearance since 2019

Inside the Numbers

  • Scary's two goals give him four on the season to lead the Hounds, and he now has 11 career goals and is 4-for-4 in his career on penalty kicks
  • Senior goalie Andrew Remias recorded eight saves for his eighth shutout of 2023, moving him into sole possession of second all-time in shutouts in a single season. Remais also has 12 career shutouts, which is fifth in program history
  • Moravian also had a defender clear the ball off the line that had gotten behind Remias for a team save
  • Scranton had a 19-8 advantage in shots and a 14-3 edge in corner kicks
