Six Hounds Selected to NFCA Division III All-Region V Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Moravian University senior pitcher Madi Cunningham and sophomore catcher Marcie Silberman have been selected to the 2024 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region V First Team while senior second baseman Ajala Elmore earned a spot on the All-Region Second Team and junior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys, junior outfielder Sage Snyder and senior designated player Emily Silberman were honored on the Third Team.

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the ten Division III regions. All the All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced on May 29.

The Greyhounds finished the season with a 31-10 mark as the squad made its 20th appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, hosting for the first time with the NCAA Division III Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Regional at Blue & Grey Field this past week. Moravian won its second straight and 11th overall Landmark Conference title this year and the program's 19th conference title since 2000. The Landmark Conference had a total of 12 All-Region V honorees.

Cunningham, who was on the 2023 NFCA All-Region V First Team and the 2022 Second Team, was named to the 2024 Landmark All-Conference Second Team this spring after being the 2022 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team in both 2022 and 2034. Cunnngham, who is graduating a year early, was 18-3 in the circle to go with five shutouts, 82 strikeouts and a 1.82 ERA in 130 innings, and she has recorded ten hits, 11 runs, two doubles, a homer and seven RBIs at the plate. In her career, Cunningham, who was honored on the 2024 NCAA Division III Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Regional All-Tournament Team, posted a 53-11 mark in the circle to go with one save, 54 complete games, 260 strikeouts and a 2.06 ERA in 425.2 innings of action, and she also had 39hits, 37 runs, seven doubles, seven homers and 27 RBIs in three seasons.

Marcie Silberman, who was named to the 2023 NFCA All-Region V Second Team, had a .348 batting average this spring to go with 48 hits, 31 runs, 15 doubles, a school and Landmark Conference record 16 home runs, 52 RBIs and a school record 111 total bases. Silberman, who was honored on the 2024 and 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team, has a .348 average with 88 hits, 49 runs, 23 doubles, a triple, 22 homers, 83 RBIs and 12 runners caught stealing from behind the plate including nine this spring.

Elmore, who was selected to the 2024 Landmark All-Conference First Team and the 2023 Second Team, hit .409 this year with 36 hits, 24 runs, five doubles, five homers, seven stolen bases and 26 RBIs. Elmore recorded .322 career average with 117 hits, 80 runs, 17 doubles, four triples, ten home runs and 76 RBIs, and she added 210 putouts and 245 assists in the field.

Gawrys earned her second NFCA All-Region V honor after making the First Team in 2022. This spring, Gawrys made the Landmark All-Conference First Team after hitting .341 to go with 45 hits, 36 runs, nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 20 RBIs. In three seasons, Gawrys has contributed a .351 average, 135 hits, 97 runs, 26 doubles, six triples, 11 homers, 52 walks and 77 RBIs to go with 815 putouts in the field.

Snyder, who made the 2023 and 2024 Landmark All-Conference First Team, registered a .342 average this season with 41 hits, 36 runs, eight doubles, two triples, four homers, 17 stolen bases and 22 RBIs. In three years, Snyder has a .330 batting average with 87 hits, 74 runs, 15 doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 32 stolen bases and 52 RBIs.

Emily Silberman, who was a member of the 2022 NFCA All-Region V Second Team, finished the season hitting .352 with 37 hits, four runs, a double, four homers and 30 RBIs. Silberman, who was a four-year Landmark All-Conference honoree as she made the First Team in 2023 and 2024 and the Second Team in 2021 and 2002, completed her career with a .370 average, 147 hits, 26 runs, seven doubles, 20 homers and 123 RBIs.
