Five Moravian Student-Athletes Selected to College Sports Communicators Softball Academic All-District

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University seniors Madi Cunningham and Emily Silberman, juniors Lindsey Gawrys and Sage Snyder and sophomore Sarah DeStefano have been selected to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve that has played in 90 percent of the team's game or started 66 percent of the team's contests this year. For pitchers, the minimums are 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.

By making the All-District Team, the quintet is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, June 18. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.

The group helped Moravian to a 31-10 record in 2024 to go with a 13-3 mark in Landmark Conference action as the Greyhounds earned the top seed in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian captured its 11th Landmark Conference title and made its 20th appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, hosting a regional for the first time at Blue & Grey field from May 16-18.

Cunningham, an economics and finance major with a minor in art and a 3.98 grade-point average, earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2024, and she was also selected as the NCAA Division III Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Regional All-Tournament Team this spring. Cunningham was the 2022 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team in 2022 and 2023, and she was 18-3 in the circle to go with five shutouts, 82 strikeouts and a 1.83 ERA in 130 innings this season, and she recorded ten hits, 11 runs, two doubles, a homer and seven RBIs at the plate. Cunningham finished her career with a 53-11 mark in the circle to go with one save, 260 strikeouts and a 2.06 ERA in 425.2 innings of action, and she had 39 hits, 27 runs, seven doubles, seven homers and 27 RBIs in three seasons. Cunningham been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List six times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Silberman, a psychology major and Spanish minor with a 3.56 grade-point average, was selected to the 2024 Landmark All-Conference First Team as a designated player for the second straight season, and she was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2021 and 2022. Silberman hit .349 this spring with 37 hits, one double, four runs, four homers and 30 RBIs. In her career, Silberman had a .370 average to go along with 147 hits, 123 RBIs, 26 runs, 20 home runs and seven doubles. She's been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List seven times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Gawrys, a health sciences major with a minor in psychology and a 3.79 grade-point average, was named to the 2024 Landmark All-Conference First Team. Gawrys posted a .341 average this season with 45 hits, 36 runs, nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 20 RBIs, and she has a .351 career batting average to go with 135 hits, 97 runs, 77 RBIs, 26 doubles, six triples and 11 homers. Gawrys been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List five times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Snyder, a health sciences major with a 3.94 grade-point average, earned a spot on the 2024 Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight campaign. Snyder had a .342 average this spring to go with 41 hits, 36 runs, eight doubles, two triples, four homers, 22 walks, 17 stolen bases and 22 RBIs. Snyder has posted 87 hits, 74 runs, 15 doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 52 RBIs, 36 walks, 32 stolen bases and a .330 average in three seasons. Snyder been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List six times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

DeStefano, a biology major with a minor in art and a 3.52 grade-point average, was selected to the 2024 Landmark All-Conference Second Team as an outfielder after making the Second Team in 2023 as a pitcher while being named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year last spring. DeStefano registered a .412 batting average this season with 35 hits, a double, two triples and 16 RBIs at the plate, and she was limited to 22 innings in the circle with a 3-1 record and 15 strikeouts. In two seasons, DeStefano has 78 hits, 30 runs, four doubles, two triples, 12 stolen bases, 35 RBIS and a .373 average at the plate, and she is 18-5 in the circle with 99 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA in 153.1 innings. DeStefano been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List three times, and she will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this year.
