Greyhound Women’s Lacrosse Set to Begin 2022 Season at Rival Muhlenberg College on February 23

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad is ready to begin its 2022 season with a non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, February 23 at 4:00 p.m.

First-year Head Coach Caroline Pape enters her inaugural season with 19 experienced players on the field and five newcomers.

The Hounds return a pair of Landmark All-Conference players with seniors midfielder Lindsey Strohl and defender Samantha Cherenson both making the Second Team last year while helping Moravian to its first-ever postseason win in 2021. Strohl is the Blue and Grey's top returning scorer with 31 goals and three assists for 34 points to go with 64 draw controls and 11 ground balls while Cherenson had 24 draw controls, 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Strohl heads into the season needing just two points for 100 in her career and 11 goals to reach the 100-goal plateau.

Coach Pape also has four other returners that netted at least 10 goals last season including senior attack Eliza Fantazzi, who had 11 goals, three assists and 12 ground balls, junior midfielder Megan Donnelly, who contributed 11 goals, two assists, 17 ground balls and nine caused turnovers, junior attack Devin King, who added 10 goals, eight assists and nine ground balls, and junior attack Emily Hoskin, who had 10 goals, three assists and 15 ground balls. Sophomore attack Lexi Robinson netted seven goals last spring while junior attack Kendall Lomascola had one goal.

Defensively, junior goalie Brelyn Friedman recorded a 6-5 record last season with 69 saves and 17 ground balls in 469 minutes of action while junior goalie Rylee Soltis had 33 saves in 150 minutes of action. Senior defender Meghan Moore had 16 ground balls and seven caused turnovers last season while senior defender Jamie Bader and sophomore defender Keara Reilly both had 12 ground balls in 2021. Senior defender Eirean Perst added six caused turnovers and five ground balls while sophomore defender Alise Downey had three ground balls.

Senior attack Kelsey Moore, junior defender Olivia Schmid and sophomore defender Olivia Williams all add depth and experience for the Greyhounds while sophomore defender Salome Carr looks to hit the field after missing all of last season with an injury.
