BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad clinched its fourth straight berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament with a 19-10 victory over visiting Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference match under the lights on John Makuvek Field Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays opened the scoring just 2:22 into the contest. Senior attack Eliza Fantazzi put the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with 9:26 left in the first period to knot the score, and Fantazzi netted another marker to give the Blue and Grey a 2-1 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • Moravian scored three goals in the opening 2:56 of the second quarter including freshman attack Jackie Salvatore hitting the net just 33 seconds into the period as the Hounds opened a 5-1 lead. Elizabethtown scored the next three goals to get within one at 5-4 before Fantazzi netted her third goal of the night. The Blue Jays closed the gap to one again, but Salvatore would send the Greyhounds into halftime with an 8-5 lead as she scored twice in the final two minutes of the half
  • Salvatore added another goal 48 seconds into the third quarter, and Elizabethtown countered a minute later. Moravian netted the next five goals from five different players to stretch the advantage out to 14-6. The Blue Jays scored once more before junior midfielder Emily Hoskin hit the net with 1.3 seconds left in the third period as the Blue and Grey led 15-7 after 45 minutes of play
  • Elizabethtown netted the first two goals of the fourth quarter while freshman attack Madi Dippel scored three straight markers to help Moravian push the advantage to 18-9 with just over three minutes to play. After the Blue Jays scored their final goal of the evening, junior attack Kendall Lomascola just beat the final horn with a goal to set the final score of 19-10
  • The victory for the Greyhounds sends the program to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the fourth straight time with Moravian making the Landmark playoffs in 2018, 2019, 2021 and this spring. There was no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19, and the Hounds recorded their first postseason win a year ago in the quarterfinals. The 2022 tournament returns to just four teams with the semifinals set for Wednesday, May 4 at the highest two seeds
