Greyhounds Rout Lycoming in Non-Conference Road Match

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad defeated future Landmark Conference opponent Lycoming College 20-4, in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Warriors netted the first goal of the contest before the Greyhounds scored three straight goals, with senior attack Eliza Fantazzi notching the game-tying goal and senior midfielder Lindsey Strohl tallying the go-ahead marker. Freshman attack Jackie Salvatore recorded the third and final Moravian goal of the first quarter, giving the Hounds a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes of play
  • Moravian fired off the next seven goals in the second period, with freshman attack Alex Cherenson opened the quarter with a pair of goals, including a man-up marker. Salvatore and Fantazzi added another goal each while freshman attack Madi Dippel, junior midfielder Emily Hoskin and senior attack Kelsey Moore each found the back of the net before Lycoming scored two goals before Moravian entered halftime with a 10-3 edge
  • The Blue and Grey outscored the Warriors 5-1 in the third quarter, with Moore scoring her second goal. Dippel and Salvatore recorded their second goals of the match as Cherenson netted her third of the night and junior midfielder Megan Donnelly scored her first of the game to extend Moravian's lead to 15-4
  • The Greyhounds tacked on five more goals in the fourth quarter while holding Lycoming scoreless in the final frame, giving Moravian a 20-4 victory

Inside the Numbers

  • Cherenson led Moravian with a career-high five goals to go with four ground balls, an assist and a caused turnover while Dippel and Salvatore each had three goals. Dippel was credited with one assist and Salvatore had a pair of assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers
  • Three Greyhounds notched two goals apiece, Fantazzi was one of them and had an assist while Moore finished with four points with two goals and two assists to go with a ground ball and a caused turnover and sophomore attack Lexi Robinson netted two markers, two ground balls, an assist and a caused turnover
  • Senior Samantha Cherenson finished the night with four ground balls and a caused turnover while Strohl added two caused turnovers and three grounds balls to go with her one goal. Donnelly had one goal and two ground balls for the Blue and Grey while Hoskin scooped up three ground balls with her one goal and a caused turnover
  • Junior goalie Brelyn Friedman started and made three saves and five ground balls in 30 minutes of action while junior goalie Rylee Soltis added two saves, one caused turnover and a ground ball in 30 minutes in goal 
  • Moravian picked up 31 ground balls to the Warriors 17 and the Greyhounds were perfect on clear attempts, 13-for-13, as Lycoming was just 12-for-28
