Kristen Cassidy, Mary Angle, Emma Angle and Brooke Adams named to Landmark Women's Tennis All-Conference teams.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Emma Angle has been named as the 2021 Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year while making the All-Conference First Team in both singles and doubles, and she was joined on the All-Conference Team in singles and doubles by senior Mary Angle and senior Brooke Adams and by senior Kristen Cassidy in doubles.

The quartet helped the Greyhounds win the program's fifth Landmark Conference title on Sunday, May 9 as Moravian defeated second seed The University of Scranton, 5-4, in a marathon match that lasted over nine hours indoors in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse with four of six singles contests going three sets and one doubles match reaching a tiebreaker. The Hounds are 10-0 on the season after going 7-0 through the Landmark Conference regular season. Moravian will find out its opponent for the NCAA Division III Tournament on Monday with action beginning on Friday, May 14.

Emma Angle, who is the fourth Greyhound to receive Landmark Conference Player of the Year accolades, earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors in singles for the second time, making the First Team in 2019, and she was on the All-Conference Second Team in singles in 2018. Playing in the first singles slot in the line-up, Angle has a career mark of 33-12 including a 9-1 slate in 2021.

"There is no more than a deserving player for this award than Emma," stated Interim Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "She has worked tirelessly on the court and in the gym during her four years at Moravian to become a dominant force in our women's program."

Mary Angle received All-Conference First Team accolades for the first time in her career after being on the All-Conference Second Team in doubles in 2019. Angle has a 36-12 career record in singles action, and she is 8-1 at second singles this season. The Angle sisters have combined for an 8-2 mark at first doubles in 2021, the first season in their college careers that the twins have been a doubles tandem.

"I'm extremely happy that Mary is finally getting the recognition that she deserves from her performance in both singles and doubles play," Freitas said. "She is a huge asset to our team."

Adams has twice been named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, once in singles in 2019 and once in doubles in 2018. She has a career singles mark of 45-6, and Adams is a perfect 10-0 on the year at third singles in 2021.

"Brooke has an impressive career record," noted Freitas. "She is an intelligent player, and she used her playing style and endurance on the court to remain undefeated this season in singles. She just knows how to win and always comes through for us."

Cassidy, who made the All-Conference Second Team in doubles back in 2018, has combined with Adams for a 7-2 mark at second doubles this season, and Cassidy is also 8-0 at fifth singles in 2021 with a 25-7 career singles slate. Cassidy and Adams are 23-9 as a doubles pair during their careers for the Greyhounds.

"Kristen has a unique playing style that is very hard to beat in doubles play," commented Freitas. "She has worked tirelessly to get to the top of her game this season. She is a tenacious competitor, and she has been a great leader on and off the court."

Moravian's coaching staff of Freitas, Chris Conrad and Lewis Cooper was also awarded the 2021 Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award.
