Moravian Captures Six Event Titles at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's outdoor track & field squad won six events and had one All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying mark at the DeSales University Invitational Saturday. 

Moravian Event Winners

  • Freshman Emma Shafnisky won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.68 seconds
  • Senior Bella DeMassa captured the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:12.05
  • Sophomore Kierstyn Klingner took first in the 800-meter run in 2:34.24
  • Senior Liz Miskovsky won the hammer throw with a toss of 40.23 meters (132-0)
  • Freshman Becca Caird captured the javelin with a distance of 30.77 meters (100-11)
  • Junior Margie Rayne took first in the shot put with an AARTFC qualifying toss of 12.28 meters (40-3.5)

Moravian Top 10 Finishers

  • Shafnisky was also the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 5.08 meters (16-8) while freshman Katelyn Davis took ninth at 4.60 meters (15-4.75)
  • Junior Caroline Melillo was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.35 meters (4-5)
  • Junior Karalyn Vashey placed second in the shot put at 10.97 meters (36-0) while senior Mikayla Woodring was third at 10.76 meters (35-3.75), Mizkovsky finished fourth at 9.69 meters (31-9.5), senior Arin Peykar took fifth with a mark of 9.67 meters (31-8.75) and freshman Jessica Heydt placed tenth at 7.52 meters (24-8.25)
  • Vashey was also the runner-up in the hammer throw at 39.68 meters (130-2) while junior Heather Adams finished fourth at 38.04 meters (124-9), Woodring took seventh at 36.97 meters, freshman Naaliyah Slater placed eighth at 35.40 meters (116-1) and Rayne finished ninth at 34.85 meters (114-4)
  • Junior Shai Knight took second in the 200-meter dash in 27.66 seconds while freshman Emerson Beamer placed eighth in the 200-meter dash in 29.15 seconds
  • Freshman Tessa Hopkins took third in the pole vault, clearing 2.69 meters (8-9.75)
  • Adams finished third in the discus with a toss of 31.28 meters (102-7) while Vashey placed fifth at 30.82 meters (101-1), Slater took seventh at 29.41 meters (96-6) and sophomore Skylar Marso was ninth at 29.01 meters (95-2)
  • Junior Makenna Mersch placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.81
  • DeMassa was also third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.30 seconds while freshman Kennedy Simons was fourth in 18.04 seconds and Mersch finished seventh in 29.14 seconds
  • Junior Sarah Rice placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:17.45 while freshman Celia Knoedler took tenth at 5:40.35
  • Knight took fourth in the 100-meter dash in 13.75 seconds while Davis was seventh in 13.99 seconds
  • Sophomore Alyssa Hockenberry finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:31.58 while freshman Katherine Board took fifth in 19:32.30 and sophomore Alexis Hockenberry placed eighth at 20:24.74
  • Freshman Emerson Beamer placed sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.18 while senior Rylie Murphy took eighth at a time of 1:05.33
  • Miskovsky also took sixth in the javelin at 22.52 meters (73-10)
  • Freshman Bella Fiore was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.12 meters (33-2.5) while Simons took eighth at 9.82 meters (32-2.75)
  • The Greyhounds 4x400-meter relay team of KlingnerBoardMurphy and junior Elena Bocchetti finished third in a time of 4:42.61
