Women's Soccer to Host Cortland State in 2017 Opener on September 1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer squad is set to begin its 2017 season on Friday, September 1 when the Greyhounds host Cortland State University in a non-conference match on John Makuvek Field beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Fourth-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk welcomes back eight starters and 15 letterwinners from last year's 10-7-1 squad that reached the Landmark Conference Championship match at the University of Scranton after a, 4-3 double-overtime win over The Catholic of America in the Landmark Semifinals on Makuvek Field. The Greyhounds were selected to finish second in the 2017 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll.

The Hounds return all five student-athletes that earned postseason honors last season including senior defender Lauren Bertucci, who was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team, senior goalie Jessica Lawton, who was on the All-Conference Second Team, junior forward Gabby Stelzmiller, who was on the All-Conference First Team and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team, junior midfielder Shae Duka, who earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team, and sophomore defender Paige Weiss, who was the 2016 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year.
