Hounds Sweep Sweet Briar to Finish Trip to Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team finished its competition at the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, South Carolina by sweeping Sweet Briar (Va.) College, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, now 6-1 on the season, led 3-0 after doubles action. Junior Lauren Steinert and sophomore Mary Angle had an 8-5 win at first doubles while sophomores Emma Angle and Brooke Adams posted an 8-0 victory at second doubles. Sophomore Kristen Cassidy and freshman Hannah Pellicciotti combined for an 8-0 triumph at third doubles as Cassidy made her season debut.

The Blue and Grey also captured all six singles matches in straight sets with wins by Emma Angle at first singles, Mary Angle at second singles, Steinert at third singles, Adams at fourth singles, Cassidy at fifth singles and sophomore Destiny George at sixth singles.

The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 23 when the team begins its 2019 Landmark Conference slate by welcoming Elizabethtown College to Hoffman Courts for a 1:00 p.m. match.
