Greyhounds Clinch Landmark Conference Tournament Berth with 8-1 Win over Goucher

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team will be heading to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the third straight year after the Greyhounds clinched a tournament berth with an 8-1 victory over visiting Goucher College Sunday at Hoffman Courts.

The Hounds, now 11-1 overall and 5-0 in Landmark Conference play, led 2-1 after doubles action. Sophomores Brooke Adams and Kristen Cassidy were first off the courts with an 8-3 victory at third doubles while the tandem of junior Lauren Steinert and sophomore Mary Angle posted an 8-4 triumph at second doubles for the 2-1 edge.    

The Blue and Grey would sweep the singles action to finish off the contest. Sophomore Emma Angle made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at first singles while Mary Angle won 0-6, 6-2, 6-0 at third singles for a 4-1 edge. Junior Eiman Nazif earned the clinching point with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at second singles before Adams registered a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Steinert posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fourth singles while Cassidy finished off the match with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at sixth singles.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, April 11 when the squad hosts Neumann University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
