Greyhounds Open 2019 Landmark Conference Slate with WIn over Elizabethtown at Hoffman Courts

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team began its 2019 Landmark Conference season with a 6-3 victory over Elizabethtown College at Hoffman Courts Sunday.

The Greyhounds, now 7-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, were down 2-1 after doubles action with the tandem of junior Eiman Nazif and sophomore Emma Angle posted an 8-7 (8-6) victory at first doubles. Junior Lauren Steinert and sophomore Mary Angle went into a tiebreaker at second doubles before falling 8-7 (8-6).

The Hounds won the first two singles matches off the courts with Emma Angle winning 6-2, 6-3 at first singles and Nazif capturing a 6-2, 7-5 victory at second singles to move ahead, 3-2. The Blue Jays won the next singles contest to finish to tie the score at 3-3 before The Blue and Grey won the final three matches. Sophomore Kristen Cassidy posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles while Steinert recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory at fourth singles. Sophomore Brooke Adams finished the match with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at fifth singles.

Moravian is slated to return to Hoffman Courts on Tuesday, March 26 in a non-conference match versus FDU-Florham beginning at 4:00 p.m.
