BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College Head Men's Basketball Coach Justin Potts '00 has stepped down from his position after four seasons to become the Head Coach at Montclair State University.

"We are grateful for all that Justin did in his brief time with us here at Moravian," commented Director of Athletics/Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "He quickly brought his high energy and will to succeed attitude to our men's basketball program and changed the climate immediately. Justin will continue to be successful on his next stop and we wish him all the best."

In his four years leading the Greyhounds as his first head coaching position, Potts guided the Hounds to a 70-40 record, Landmark Conference Championships in 2018 and 2019, NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019 including the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory this past winter, three berths in the Landmark Conference title game and a trip to the ECAC Division III Tournament. Potts led Moravian to 20 wins in each of the last two seasons, the only 20-win campaigns in 84 years of the program.

Potts coached five Landmark All-Conference First Team selections and two Landmark All-Conference Second Team honorees. He also had two players named to the D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region teams, one National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District, one Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and one Landmark Conference Championship Most Valuable Player.

Potts, who earned his Bachelors of Arts in English from Moravian in 2000, began his coaching career as an assistant for the Greyhounds before moving onto East Stroudsburg University as an assistant coach from 2002-03 through his return to Moravian for the 2015-16 season.

Potts will coach two games in Johnston Hall this winter as Montclair State competes in the Steel Club Classic on January 4-5. The Red Hawks will not face-off against the Greyhounds during the tournament, rather playing SUNY Oswego and Ithaca College in the predetermined matchups for the weekend.

Moravian will begin an immediate search to replace Potts as the program's head coach.
