BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- With the final semester of their college experience moved remotely by COVID-19, the Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation today honors the four senior members of the Greyhounds' men's basketball squad that missed out on their traditional career-ending senior experiences.
The quartet helped the Greyhounds to a 73-38 record over the last four seasons, including two Landmark Conference Championships, four Landmark Conference Tournament appearances, two NCAA Division III Tournament berths with the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history and the only two 20-win seasons in school history.
Guard C.J. Barnes played in 110 career games, tied for the most in school history, with 49 starts, and he contributed 1,248 points, which is 15th in school history, 443 rebounds, 212 three-pointers, which is second all-time, 92 assists, 82 steals and 33 blocked shots in his career. C.J. scored in double figures 62 times in his career with two double-doubles. C.J. was a three-time Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll honoree, and he was selected to the 2019 and 2020 Landmark All-Conference Second Team. He was also honored on the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year in 2020, and C.J. is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society while making Moravian's Dean's List three times. C.J. is the son of Erica and Carlos Barnes, and he is majoring in management with a minor in philosophy at Moravian.
"C.J. has had a tremendous four-year career," commented Head Coach Shawn Postiglione. "He was a consistent, reliable presence in the lineup who was a big part of many wins both this season and throughout his time at Moravian. C.J. was the special kind of student-athlete who excelled at the highest levels both in the classroom and on the court. C.J. has been a tremendous representative of our program, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Forward John Hargraves scored 373 points in 72 career games with 35 starts as he missed his sophomore season with an injury. He added 210 rebounds, 45 blocked shots, which is tenth in school history, 31 steals and 26 assists. John was honored on the 2020 Landmark Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team. John is the son of Sheila Jones and John Hargraves, and he is majoring in business management at Moravian.
"John is the consummate Moravian College Greyhound," noted Postiglione. "He has given a tremendous amount of effort and energy to the men's basketball program over the past four years. Battling back from two serious injuries, John's determination, grit, and team-first attitude contributed greatly to the development of a winning culture and on-court success. John always represented the program and the College in a first-class manner as a leader on the team and in the campus community. I look forward to seeing what John is able to accomplish in his post-graduate career."
Guard Mike Martino scored 216 points in his career over 107 games with 37 starts. He also had 216 rebounds, 264 assists, which is eighth in school history, 95 steals, 41 three-pointers and four blocked shots. Mike is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, and he was on the 2020 Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team while making Moravian's Dean's List once. Mike is the son of Mikelin Martino, and he is majoring in secondary education at Moravian.
"Mike is the type of young man who anyone would love to coach," stated Postiglione. "He is a true competitor in every sense of the word. Mike consistently brought great effort, determination, and toughness to the men's basketball program. Mike was a great teammate who was all about the team's success, and he was a big reason why his teams won so many games the past four years. Mike would do anything asked of him, and we are grateful to have had him in our program."
Forward Addis Ralph scored 464 points in 83 career games. He added 283 rebounds, 75 blocked shots, which is fourth in school history, 39 three-pointers, 28 assists and 20 steals. Addis is the son of Anne and Dane Ralph, and he is majoring in business management with a minor in Africana studies at Moravian.
"Addis was an integral part of the men's basketball program these past four years," Postiglione said. "Addis worked hard to develop and steadily improve over the course of his career. He saved his best season for last and had a huge role in the team's success this past season. Addis's positive attitude and vibrant personality, along with his skills as a supportive, uplifting teammate, always brightened the room. He was very coachable and committed to the program and its success. We wish Addis all the best moving forward."
