Moravian Posts 11-Point Win over Bryn Athyn College in Widener Tournament for Autism Awareness

CHESTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College jumped out to an early lead on their way to posting a 77-66 victory over Bryn Athyn College in the consolation game of the Widener University Tip-Off Tournament for Autism Awareness Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, now 2-2 on the season, placed four players in double figures with junior guard Keith Otto netting a team-high 15 points to go with five rebounds. Freshman guard Greg Eck scored a career high 14 points to go with five boards while senior guard C.J. Barnes had 13 points and seven rebounds and junior guard Matt O'Connor tossed in 10 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. Barnes was named to the All-Tournament Team for his play during the two contests this weekend.

Junior forward John Rigsby contributed eight points, four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots for the Blue and Grey while junior guard Nick King tossed in seven points to go with two assists. Senior forward John Hargraves grabbed seven boards to go with six points while senior forward Addis Ralph added four points and senior guard Mike Martino contributed four rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Moravian jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on a jumper from Hargraves, a lay-up by Otto and two free throws from O'Connor. Bryn Athyn answered with nine straight points and would hold a 14-9 lead before back-to-back baskets from Eck cut it to a one-point game at the 13:17 mark. The contest was tied at 15-15 before two free throws by Barnes at 11:40 would give the Greyhounds the lead for good and also start a 9-0 run that Otto capped with a three-pointers for 24-15 edge two minutes later. The Blue and Grey pushed the advantage to 15 points at 36-21 after two more free throws by Barnes with 4:35 before the intermission, and Moravian would head to the locker room with a 43-34 edge.

The Greyhounds' lead would reach 16 points on two occasions in the second half, the final time at 58-42 with 13:09 to play after two free throws from King. Bryn Athyn would get back within seven points with just under nine minutes to play but Barnes drilled a three-pointer to put the lead back to double digits.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, November 20 when the squad hosts William Paterson (N.J.) University in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
