Matt O'Connor and C.J. Barnes named to Landmark Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior guard Matt O'Connor has been honored on the 2020 Landmark Men's Basketball All-Conference First Team while senior guard C.J. Barnes was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

The duo helped the Greyhounds and first-year Head Coach Shawn Postiglione post a 14-12 record and reach the Landmark Conference Semifinals for the fourth straight winter.

O'Connor led the Hounds is scoring at 15.8 points per game, and he also had a team-high 63 three-pointers to go along with a career-high 82 assists, 91 rebounds, 27 steals and nine blocked shots. O'Connor, who missed the postseason contest due to an injury, was also selected to the 2019-20 City of Basketball Love All-Area Division III Fifth Team. In his three seasons in Bethlehem, O'Connor has scored 572 points in 81 games to go along with 158 rebounds, 129 assists, 96 three-pointers, 67 steals and 13 blocked shots.

"Matt took a huge step forward as a player this season," commented Postiglione. "His abilities as a scorer and as a playmaker for his teammates had a lot to do with our success. Matt had a lot of big moments in big games for our team. We are looking forward to Matt getting healthy and having more success in his senior season."

Barnes was selected to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team for the second straight year, and he also earned a spot on the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization Team of the Year. In his final season, Barnes averaged 15.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest to go with 57 three-pointers, 37 assists, 20 steals and 15 steals while shooting 84.6 percent (104-of-123) at the foul line. Barnes finished his career with 1,248 points, which is 15th in school history, in 110 career games, tying the school record. He also had 212 three-pointers, second all-time, 443 rebounds, 92 assists, 82 steals and 33 blocked shots during his career while shooting 84.6 percent (252-of-298) at the charity stripe and 38.4 percent (212-of-552) beyond the three-point line, which both rank fourth in program history.

"C.J. has had a tremendous four-year career," Postiglione said. "He was a consistent, reliable presence in our lineup who was a big part of many wins both this season and throughout his time at Moravian. We are grateful for the impact C.J. and the rest of our seniors had on the program and wish them all the best."
