TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Greg Jaindl has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Jaindl captured first place in the mile run with a time of 4:21.52 at the Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh University's Rauch Field House to lead the Greyhounds. Jaindl's win was one of seven Top 5 finishes for the Hounds, who were competing for the first time in six weeks.
"The race didn't go quite as we hoped and Greg had to do a lot more of the pacing duties than we anticipated," noted Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "As a result, it wasn't quite as fast of a time as we think he's capable of right now. With that being said, he had a really nice tempo workout this week, and being able to run a 4:21 mile, while leading 75% of the race is really encouraging sign of where his fitness is at right now. With Greg, the goal is getting to NCAAs and contending for All-American honors in March, and thus far all signs are encouraging that it's a realistic goal."
Moravian will split the squad on Saturday, January 25 to compete in a pair of meets with part of the team heading to the Conference Challenge Cup Invitational at Nazareth (N.Y.) College and the rest of the squad traveling to the Coach I Open at Franklin & Marshall College.
