Moravian Men Post Seven Top 10 Finishes at Ithaca Bomber Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field squad posted one individual event winner and had seven top ten finishes at the non-scoring Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College Saturday.

The Greyhounds had a trio of All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championship qualifiers and six personal-best performances led by senior Greg Jaindl winning the 3,000-meter run in an AARTF qualifying time of 8:46.54, the fourth fastest time in school history, and senior Ryan Harper finishing seventh in the weight throw with an AARTF qualifying distance of 15.12 meters (49-9) on his second throw. Junior Shane Mastro took third in the shot put with an AARTF qualifying toss of 14.17 meters (46-6).

Junior Sean McFarland finished sixth in the finals of the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.41 seconds after qualifying eighth in a PR time of 7.36 seconds. Sophomore Taylor Porter McPherson was 11th in the preliminaries in 7.42 seconds while senior Nicholas Cephas took 13th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.03 seconds. McFarland also finished tenth in the 200-meter dash with a PR of 23.07 seconds while Porter McPherson was 17th in 23.31 seconds. Senior Evan Lutz was 16th in the 400-meter dash with a PR of 53.04 seconds.

Sophomore Shane Houghton finished 14th in the 3,000-meter run with a PR time of 9:08.07 while senior Gavin Kemery was 19th in the race in a time of 9:24.78. Freshman Darlyn Fermin placed 17th in the mile run with a PR of 4:31.96 while sophomore Dominic DeRafelo finished 20th in the race in 4:33.02.

The Greyhounds had two teams compete in the 4x400-meter relay with the quartet of McFarland, Porter McPherson, Lutz and junior Peter Gingrich finishing eighth in 3:33.92 while the group of Ferman, senior Devon Fogel and freshmen Elias Aviles and Bryce Feddeman took ninth in 3:36.13.

Junior Derek Scott was 14th in the weight throw with a PR toss of 13.32 meters (43-9.5) on his second attempt while freshman Dan Jenkins took 20th at 12.63 meters (41-5.25). Cephas placed 17th in the long jump with a leap of 5.98 meters (19-7.5) while sophomore Max Schuman was 19th at 5.93 meters (19-5.5) and freshman Kyle Smilon was 20th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.56 meters (37-11.25).

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 8 when the team heads to the Alvernia University Plex Shootout.
