TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Greg Jaindl has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after his performance this past weekend.
Jaindl placed third in the 5,000-meter run at the Conference Challenge Cup at Nazareth (N.Y.) College with a PR time of 15:02.22, which is the fifth fastest time in school history. The time also qualified Jaindl for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships in March while earning six points to help the Hounds finish 10th of 12 teams at the Conference Challenge Cup. Jaindl's time is currently 19th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list and the top 20 in each individual event after the conclusion of the regular season on March 7 will compete in the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on March 13-14.
"Aside from Landmarks, this was the first 5K we've tried in a few years with Greg where he had other people to compete with," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "We've been working a little more on some speed components to his training so we knew this may not be his peak race, but it was still a solid performance. He read the field well and was patient, moving through people at the right times. Although we would have loved to have been under 15:00, it was still a big lifetime PR and a race we were happy with."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 1 at the Bomber Invitational being hosted by Ithaca (N.Y.) College.
