Womens Tennis Opens 2011-2012 Season

The Moravian College women's tennis team began the 2011-12 season by hosting the Greyhound Invitational on the Lewis Tennis Courts at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus. The Greyhounds, Gwynedd-Mercy College and Misericordia University played a flighted tournament with eight singles flights and four doubles flights. All of the contests were played as eight-game prosets in both singles and doubles and each winner received a point. Moravian finished with 15 points while Gwynedd-Mercy had 13 points and Misericordia recorded five points.

The Greyhounds had three players win two singles matches including junior Chelsea Ott at first singles, sophomore Erica Venuti at seventh singles and Sophia Osbourne at fourth singles. Senior Brianna Kavanagh, pictured, sophomore Olivia Sonnabend and freshmen Carley Agrifolio and Sarah Sadtler each had one singles win.

In doubles action for Moravian, Agrifolio and junior Stephanie Cox won a pair of matches at second doubles while Venuti and sophomore Katie Zein won two matches at third doubles. Kavanaugh and Sonnabend captured two wins at fourth doubles for the Greyhounds.
